Jan Albert van Laar (1967) studied philosophy at the University of Groningen (theory of argumentation and logic) and the University Utrecht (teaching qualification). He is interested in argumentation, fallacy-theory and logic, in particular in the analysis and evaluation of real-life arguments and criticisms from a formal dialectical (dialogical) perspective. He finished his dissertation The dialectic of ambiguity in 2003. Now, he is working on a project on one-sidedness.
